University updates

Please check with your University for the latest updates.

The vast majority of undergraduate programmes will begin – as planned – on 21 September. Some changes have been made to certain postgraduate programmes and details of what this means is contained in this note.

Teaching wherever possible will include interactive, face-to-face engagement as well as classes delivered remotely (for example, via Zoom or Microsoft Teams).

Initially, the amount of face-to-face teaching we can offer will be restricted by physical distancing rules, but we anticipate that on-campus academic activity will increase as the rules are eased. Access to library and study spaces on campus will be provided from the very start of term, but in ways that observe physical distancing requirements.

We have decided to start a little later than usual this year. Induction commences on Tuesday 29 September and teaching begins Monday 5 October. The Admissions and Enquiry Service is continuing to process applications in the usual way. The team are all working remotely, you may find there is a slight delay in the response time while we all settle in to our new ways of working. Thank you for your patience.

The University is actively planning to support all of our students and the detail of how we will deliver learning, teaching and assessment in 2020/21, safely and in line with the four phases of the Scottish Government Coronavirus (COVID-19): framework for decision making.

We wish to create an environment in which you are able to enjoy access to the campus, safely and which best supports the learning and wider student experience of all in our community.

Our staff are currently working on plans to support the delivery of your degree programme in the coming semester and beyond. This will be through a blend of campus-based activities, where it is safe to do so, supported by our online environment and services.
